Our Approach

Josh consulting with Norene
Communications Strategist Josh Seidenfeld consults with Norene Fernandez of the Cesar E. Chavez Center for Domestic Workers.

Organizations that want to be heard in the debates that shape our society must embrace strategic communications as a critical tool to achieve their goals. The SPIN Project is dedicated to working with social justice organizations ready to deploy communications strategies for social change.

We Build Stronger Organizations

An important goal of our work is to strengthen the social justice movement by strengthening its communications infrastructure. Because of this, we focus on skills building and leadership development. The SPIN Project also actively encourages clients to share the communications knowledge they’ve gained from our trainings and consultations with peer and ally organizations.

We Begin Where Our Clients Are

The SPIN Project’s tools are accessible, affordable and adaptable to the changing needs of social justice organizations. Our services are appropriate for organizations just starting to consider communications in their work as well as those with more experience looking to further enhance their effectiveness in reaching target audiences.

We Prepare Our Clients to Speak for Themselves

The SPIN Project develops communications skills, infrastructure and leadership, leaving stronger organizations with the ability to amplify their work with messages that evolve from the grassroots.

We Believe in Our Clients’ Work

Our staff is comprised of communications and program specialists committed to social change. We respect the work of our clients and firmly believe that communications is an important component of organizing and community engagement.

We Bridge the Gap Between Theory and Practice

It is a challenge to translate the latest thinking by leaders in the field about framing and messaging into practical advice ready for implementation at the grassroots level. The SPIN Project maintains its commitment to making current communications theories digestible and applicable.
